Pegasus Mail and support for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)

Starting with Pegasus Mail v4.11, released in April 2003, SSL/TLS v3 support is standard on all the major Internet protocols in Pegasus Mail - POP3, IMAP and SMTP. Pegasus Mail uses Peter Gutmann's high-security cryptlib encryption libraries to provide SSL support.

Client-side certificates:  Pegasus Mail v4.11 does not currently support the use of client-side certificates (certificates that verify that the user connecting to the server is who he or she claims to be). There are numerous real-world problems associated with the use of client-side certificates, and we have decided that we cannot responsibly implement them until we are sure that these problems can be resolved in a manner that does not compromise overall security. We are watching developments with client-side certification processes closely and will post an announcement here when we believe we are ready to proceed with this feature.
