Public Mailing Lists Public mailing lists for Pegasus Mail users are run by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We offer our grateful thanks to University staff and administration for their help and generosity in making this extremely valuable resource available. Three lists are available: one is for Official Announcements; there is another for issues related to Pegasus Mail, and a third exists for Mercury. There is also another list, the PMAIL list, which receives all the mail sent to each of the other three, and may also contain occasional postings that do not appear in the others. Pegasus Mail User's Group discussion list - PMAIL@listserv.ua.edu This list generates a small number of mail messages every day and has over two thousand subscribers from all around the world. It is the principal place where announcements are made about new versions, fixes, changes and updates and is an excellent source of technical support. This list is also available for browsing and searching at the University of Alabama's Searchable Mailing List Archive. To subscribe to the list, send a message to listserv@listserv.ua.edu with a single-line message body, SUBSCRIBE PMAIL <firstname> <lastname>
You can unsubscribe from the list at any time by sending a message containing the single line:
to the same address. For further information, you can send the message body "HELP" to the listserv, and it will return instructions to you. To send mail to the list, address it to pmail@listserv.ua.edu. You must be a subscriber before you can post anything to this list. REMEMBER!! Subscription and Unsubscription requests must be sent to LISTSERV, not to the list itself!! Pegasus Mail Announcements list - PM-NEWS@listserv.ua.edu. If you wish to receive ONLY official release announcements and moderated information about the Pegasus Mail system, you should consider subscribing to the PM-NEWS list, using the same sequence of steps outlined above. Once again, remember that your subscription message should be sent to LISTSERV, not to PM-NEWS. You cannot mail to the PM-NEWS list directly - any mail you send to it will be referred to the list moderators for action. In general, the volume of mail on the PM-NEWS list is only a few messages a year. Subsidiary lists There are also other mailing lists operated at the same location which specifically serve Pegasus Mail and Mercury. Mail to these lists is also sent on to the main PMAIL list, so if you are subscribed to PMAIL@UA1VM.UA.EDU then you don't need to subscribe to these lists. Mail volume on these lists is usually lower than on the full PMAIL list. Pegasus Mail for Windows discussion list - PM-WIN@listserv.ua.edu. This list hosts discussions on Pegasus Mail for Windows. Any mail sent to this list is also forwarded automatically to the main PMAIL list, but not vice-versa. If you are only interested in Pegasus Mail, then this is the list for you. Subscribe by sending a message with the body set to
to the address listserv@listserv.ua.edu. Mercury discussion list - MERCURY@listserv.ua.edu This list hosts discussions on the Mercury Mail Transport System. Any mail sent to this list is also forwarded automatically to the main PMAIL list, but not vice-versa.
